About the Role:

Remitly's Customer Transaction Accounting Program (CTAP) is core to our business. We oversee all the accounting and reconciliation for every customer transaction, globally, that runs through our systems. As a Senior Accountant on the CTAP Accounting team, reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, you will be a key contributor to our financial statements by supporting the month-end close process, investigating money movement across Remitly's products, managing curated datasets, key metrics, and reporting.

You Will:

  • Be a key contributor, applying technical accounting knowledge to serve as an expert on the Order to Cash process, which includes proper accounting and analyses of revenue, cost of sales, cash, customer incentives, customer receivables and liabilities, foreign exchange transactions, and reserves
  • Support in the month-end close process of creating and booking Journal Entries, analysis of trends and variances to expected outcomes, and analysis of financial system outputs.
  • Work with Fraud and Reconciliation teams to ensure complete and accurate estimates of fraud and disbursement loss reserves
  • Work with Treasury and FP&A teams to ensure complete and accurate analysis of FX gains and losses
  • Own various projects and analysis to ensure account balances are complete and accurate by establishing and maintaining a framework to monitor, investigate, and resolve issues
  • Conduct technical accounting research and drafting technical documentation working closely with internal stakeholders to determine the impact of new accounting standards and the accounting implications of changes in the business including new product launches
  • Help develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures while maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • Help fulfill audit requests
  • Other tasks as assigned

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of experience in an accounting or similar role
  • Knowledge of US GAAP specifically ASC 606 and ASC 830
  • Experience working in NetSuite or similar ERP systems
  • Experience in analyzing and working with large data sets and familiarity with data management tools such as Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets and can perform complex functions) and SQL
  • CPA required
  • Self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environment
