About the Role:

The Remittance Network Expansion team owns the end-to-end customer experience of sending money across borders for Remitly customers. As the manager of this team, you will be focused on unlocking this journey for customers globally by expanding into new countries and integrating new payment types. You will grow a team of full stack developers located in Vancouver, Canada, and lead the team in solving technical challenges to improve money movement customer experience, partnering with several teams across the company. This role is hybrid.

You Will:

  • Manage a team of engineers, provide technical leadership and lead complex, cross-team engineering efforts.
  • Guide and support team members in their career development journey.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to recognize and explore enhancement prospects, validating hypotheses, and enhancing key performance indicators.
  • Engage in all phases of product development, from brainstorming to execution to deployment, which involves swift prototyping, conducting A/B tests, and deploying code to production.
  • Establish standards for planning, encompassing defining quarterly objectives, allocating resources, and adapting priorities.
  • Utilize your proficiency in technical writing, distributed systems architecture, coding, and software development methodologies to accomplish remarkable outcomes for the team.
  • Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
  • You will help to set and hire against a high engineering talent bar for the team.
  • Report to the Engineering Manager of the Money Movement Experience team.

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a team environment
  • Experience as a lead, working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes and delight users both internally and externally
  • Experience mentoring and growing other engineers
  • Experience with CI/CD and advanced deployment strategies

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $148,000-$180,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
