About the Role:

Join us as an Engineering Manager on the Global Money Movements team. Our mission is to enable the world's most trusted financial services through a platform that allows modular, reusable components to move money around the world. On this team, you'll lead a team of software engineers to build resilient, scalable, micro-service solutions that empower Remitly's future architecture. 

You'll contribute to engineering strategy, lead global expansion and platform adoption efforts, and evolve the team's engineering practices and culture. You will guide the creation of excellent technical systems with minimal technical debt, be a partner who creates a welcoming team culture across the company and manage a team of 7-9 engineers while growing the careers of team members and shaping the engineering culture of Remitly as a whole.

You'll report to a Senior Engineering Manager based in Krakow, Poland.

You Will: 

  • Lead global expansion and platform adoption efforts for a new money movements platform that your team owns

  • Manage business critical money movement systems and partner with integration teams that plug into our network of banking partners

  • Lead a team of 7-9 engineers

  • Bring technical strategy balancing quality, features, and delivery timelines

  • Champion engineering culture through mentoring, hiring, and process improvements

  • Have a relationship and work arrangements with teams in the US that ensures transparency and autonomy

  • Ensure platform excellence in security, performance, and minimal technical debt

  • Collaborate globally across time zones with product, engineering, and business teams. You will partner with product managers to understand requirements, translate these requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.

  • Travel to our Seattle office 1-2 times a year

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience.

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in a software engineering role

  • 2+ years in a technical leadership position

  • Experience leading technical teams in a data-driven way, with a customer-centric mindset

  • Experience defining and influencing technical designs and processes across a team

  • An understanding of software development practices to create a healthy system supporting business demand while being able to provide technical advice to the team

  • Strong understanding of software development practices, system design, and algorithms
