About the Role:

You will operate at the intersection of technology, law, compliance and business strategy, translating abstract regulatory requirements into concrete, scalable, and elegant solutions.

We serve as internal advisors. We partner with team members to solve complex and nuanced privacy issues in areas including global expansion, new financial products, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advertising. We do this in a manner that is privacy-forward.

As a Program Manager, you will help enhance Remitly's culture of privacy as we build new experiences for our customers and employees. This includes leading privacy and regulatory programs with internal partners. These programs involve privacy impact assessments, assessing and mitigating nuanced privacy risks, and creating compliance strategies for relevant data protection laws together with the DPO. Additionally, they involve promoting a privacy-centric culture across the organization.

You Will:

  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance:

    Stay up to date with global privacy regulations and help incorporate changes in CS operating procedures. Collaborate with Privacy Legal, Compliance and cross-functional teams to implement changes.

    At the direction of the Director of Global Privacy, conduct regular assessments to identify and address privacy risks and vulnerabilities in CS operations.

    Support investigations and coordinate responses with DPO to privacy-related incidents.

  • Enhance Privacy Program Leadership:

    Provide strategic guidance on privacy compliance and best practices to internal partners.

    Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate privacy considerations into operations processes.

    Prepare regular reports to senior leadership on the status of privacy operations.

  • Deliver Continuous Improvement in privacy operations workflows and processes.

    Monitor and deep-dive into issues, trends and gaps in privacy operations workflows and metrics.

    Conduct periodic audits and assessments to measure the effectiveness of privacy standard operating procedures followed by the Global Privacy team and Privacy Operations teams.

    Build improvements into privacy operating procedures and workflows to mitigate/address issues, gaps and concerning trends.

    Partner with the CS Training team to deliver training to CSAs to improve privacy metrics..

  • DSAR management:

    Review DSAR templates and conduct 4-eye checks on the content of the template before sending it to the customer.

    Collaborate with the Global Privacy Director, DPO, Legal to seek clarity on DSAR edge-cases. Build mechanisms to document edge cases into relevant SOPs.

    Oversee the end-to-end workflow for DSARs. Hold partners accountable to the DSAR Service level agreement.

    Conduct informal RCAs for DSARs with defects (e.g. missed SLA, data spillage to an incorrect recipient) and implement improvements to prevent repeat issues in the future.

    Prepare regular reports to senior leadership on DSAR metrics.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of program management in tech; Experience in FinTech/payments or similarly regulated, global environments preferable.

  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional work, managing dependencies and risks, and influencing teams you don't manage.

  • Experience operationalizing and managing global privacy requirements.

  • Data fluency. You define the right metrics, build/read dashboards, and use analysis to guide decisions and improvements.

  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global and domestic data protection laws.

  • History of delivering regulatory-driven process improvement projects with technology processes or major tech companies that shows analytical decision-making
