About the Role:

As a founding member of our Bangalore engineering hub, you will lead the backend development for Remitly's new business-payment products. Because our GetPaid product is built on top of Remitly's existing global infrastructure, your job involves much more than writing new services from scratch. You will spend a significant amount of time analyzing our current platforms, partnering with architects across the company to propose necessary changes, and modifying existing codebases to support our new business needs. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys deep technical discovery, cross-team collaboration, and building high-scale financial systems in Golang and AWS.

You Will:

  • Design Product Integrations: Lead the technical plan for how our business products use Remitly's core ledger, payment rails, and identity services.
  • Modify Existing Platforms: Work directly in other teams' codebases to add features or update APIs that our product requires to function.
  • Partner with Global Teams: Collaborate with senior leads in Seattle/Tel Aviv/Krakow offices to ensure our technical approach aligns with the company's long-term platform goals.
  • Write and Review Code: Build new backend services in Golang while maintaining a high bar for code quality and system security through rigorous peer reviews.
  • Solve Complex Dependencies: Identify where existing systems limit our product's growth and lead the effort to fix those bottlenecks.
  • Mentor the Team: Guide SDE 2s on how to navigate the wider Remitly codebase and maintain high engineering standards within the Bangalore hub.

You Have:

  • A Senior Backend Engineer: You have 6+ years of experience, including time spent at large, fast-paced companies (e.g., Razorpay, Flipkart, Uber) where you worked on complex, interconnected systems.
  • Technically Fearless: You are comfortable jumping into unfamiliar codebases, understanding how they work, and making the changes needed to move your project forward.
  • A Strong Collaborator: You know how to explain your technical needs to other teams and can negotiate solutions that work for everyone involved.
  • Proficient in Golang & AWS: You have deep experience with Go and cloud infrastructure, particularly in building secure and scalable microservices.
  • Action-Oriented: You thrive in "0-1" situations where you have to find your own answers and push through technical ambiguity to deliver results.
  • Detail-Oriented: You care about the "boring" but essential parts of engineering—security, data consistency, and clear documentation.
