About the Role:

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer for Small and Micro-business Pay team to help Remitly serve small business owners around the globe. On the team you will solve important problems for business owners and improve their access to a global customer base. You'll prototype, validate, and scale new offerings. While on the team, you'll work with members of multiple cross functional teams (UX, legal, compliance, marketing) and most of platform engineering teams. You will report to Senior Engineering Manager on SMB team.

You Will:

  • Gather and analyze requirements. Design, code, and test APIs, data storage solutions, and integration with third-party services. Identify and fix issues or bugs. Work with the team to quickly resolve problems and maintain system stability.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including product/program managers and marketing, compliance and legal specialists.
  • Guide the team's technical strategy while leading, shipping features and systems.
  • Promote engineering excellence by delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions, improving team processes, and contributing to cross-team technical designs.
  • Enhance team talent through mentoring, code review, interviewing, and ramping new hires.

You Have:

  • A BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience building and optimizing large-scale web architectures.
  • Knowledge of backend programming languages such as Java or Golang
  • Proven experience software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $148,000-$185,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
