Job Description:
Remitly is on a mission to transform the lives of immigrants and their families by providing the most trusted financial products and services on the planet. Since 2011, we have been tirelessly delivering on our promises to immigrants sending their hard-earned money home. Today, we are reimagining international payments at scale and building new products to create deeper relationships with our

About the role:
As a Global Compliance Assurance Leader on Remitly's Global Compliance Internal Testing (GCIT) team, you will lead key compliance assurance initiatives across one or more regulatory domains, applying deep subject matter expertise to strengthen how Remitly tests and validates its compliance controls globally. GCIT sits within Remitly's Global Audit & Assurance (GAA) organization and operates as an independent, second line of defense testing function. You will apply a global risk lens to guide the design, execution, and continuous improvement of assurance testing within your area of ownership, supporting regulatory readiness and stakeholder confidence.
This role requires strong leadership and cross-functional influence, including direct people leadership. You will partner with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Internal Audit to strengthen Remitly's assurance practices and deliver insights that inform compliance risk decisions within your domain, while managing and developing a team of assurance professionals.
You Will:
– Lead assurance projects across one or more compliance domains (e.g., AML, sanctions, consumer protection, safeguarding, regulatory reporting), ensuring testing is relevant, complete, and aligned to Remitly's risk appetite
– Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of assurance managers and/or analysts, including performance management, career development, and workload planning
– Apply subject matter expertise to advise on control design, risk mitigation strategies, and testing methodologies in high-risk, high-impact areas
– Evaluate complex, non-standardized processes and control environments to deliver forward-looking assurance insights
– Contribute to the evolution of GCIT's testing framework and methodology through practical input and application of best practices
– Build and maintain cross-functional partnerships with stakeholders; align testing scope and findings to broader risk, audit, and compliance priorities
– Represent GCIT in select regulatory engagements and internal audit interactions
– Support adoption of scalable assurance practices within your area of ownership
You Have:
– Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk, or related discipline—or equivalent practical experience
– 8+ years of experience in compliance assurance, internal audit, risk testing, or regulatory consulting in financial services or fintech
– Demonstrated experience directly managing and developing a team, including performance management, coaching, and career development
– Expertise in global regulatory environments, including AML/CTF, OFAC/sanctions, consumer protection, safeguarding, and transaction monitoring
– Proven ability to lead assurance work in complex, ambiguous environments, including regulatory transformation or expansion scenarios
– Demonstrated experience designing, testing, and advising on controls across distributed systems and cross-functional teams
– Advanced communication skills with a track record of influencing stakeholders and synthesizing risk insights into clear, actionable recommendations
– High ownership mindset and bias for execution; able to operate with guidance in ambiguous or high-stakes situations
– Preferred: experience working with international regulatory bodies (e.g., FCA, BaFin, MAS) or in global markets with high-risk jurisdiction exposure
