About the Role:
Join us as a Software Development Engineer on Remitly's Global Money Movements Team! Our mission is to promote the world's most trusted financial services through a platform that provides modular, reusable components to move money around the world. Our Kraków squads specifically focus on storing financial information and expanding our payment network's credit and debit card capabilities.
On this team, you'll build highly-resilient, scalable, micro-service solutions that power Remitly's future architecture. You'll solve technical challenges including micro-service scaling, durable workflows, and global team collaboration.
You will report to a Kraków-based manager.

You Will:

Solve complex technical challenges with a customer-centric mindset

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Java/Kotlin, Go, and AWS

Ensure reliability and scalability of customer money movements by improving system observability, performance, and fault tolerance

Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Customer Support teams across time zones to provide solutions that enhance customer experience

Write technical specifications and participate in design reviews

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentorship opportunities
You Have:
-
BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
-
1+ years building backend services or consumer software applications
-
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, TypeScript)

Experience with AWS (or similar cloud platforms) and cloud-based software development
-
Experience with non-relational/NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, DynamoDB)
-
Familiarity with CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab) and deployment best practices

Understanding of software design patterns and algorithms
-
Effective collaboration and B2+ English proficiency
