Principal Product Manager, Remitly Business

Seattle, WA, United States of America

Job ID: R_106845
Job Type: Regular

Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we’ve tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it’s supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we’re not just here to move money— we’re here to move our global customers forward.

We’re looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that’s you and you’re ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

Remitly has moved $100B+ helping families send money across borders. That built a world-class payout network, rails, licenses, and trust at consumer scale. Remitly Business puts all of it to work for the millions of small businesses paying contractors, suppliers, and staff internationally & and we're hiring the Principal Product Manager who'll own the core of it.

Businesses run real payables through us every cycle, and the acquisition motion works. This role owns depth: whether they come back, what share of their payables moves through us, and how much of the finance workflow they do elsewhere we take over. Revenue and profit per business customer is how that lands on the P&L. You'll carry it.

The workflow layer is where the next several years of this product get built — batch, scheduled, and recurring payments, recipient management, approvals, reconciliation, export, and the integrations into the tools businesses already use to move money.

The hard part isn't building workflows. It's that "small business" isn't one customer. A twelve-person construction firm paying subcontractors and a forty-person agency paying overseas designers have different cycles, different approval chains, and different reasons to trust you with a payment. Depth arrives in layers, and the workflow that retains one segment barely registers for another. You'll decide which layers generalize, which are segment-specific, and which aren't ours to build.

You'll report to the VP/GM of Remitly Business and work with them daily; your strategy will be read and questioned by the CEO. It's an individual contributor role with no direct reports and unusual scope – a self-contained team with the distribution, balance sheet, and payout network of a public company behind it. Like every leader here, you'll raise the bar around you.

We're looking for builders who find the problem before anyone hands it to them: your own customer relationships, your own data cuts, your own opportunities,  and accountability long after launch.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3+ days per week in the Remitly Seattle headquarters.

You Will:

  • Own retention and depth for Remitly Business. You'll be accountable for whether businesses come back, what share of their payables runs through us, and how much of their finance workflow we take over — and you'll carry revenue per business customer.

  • Hold a point of view on what actually deepens customer behavior, and refresh it as the product matures. You'll sharpen it with your own customer texture, your own data, and your own read of the market.

  • Own the payment workflows businesses run every cycle: batch, scheduled, and recurring payments, recipient management, approvals, reconciliation, and export.

  • Own the trust layer. Sending money to a supplier abroad is a moment of real exposure for a business owner, and you'll decide what we build to make confidence visible at exactly those moments.

  • Open new surfaces. Identify the adjacencies worth entering — including integrations into the tools businesses already use to move money — size them honestly against the core, and either kill them early or take them to launch.

  • Pull your own data, with a team of analytics experts alongside you. Analytics is a partner here, not a dependency you wait on.

  • Design inside risk, compliance, and regulatory constraints rather than around them. You'll sit with Legal, Risk, and Compliance early and come out with a product that ships.

Twelve months in, success looks like a materially higher share of each customer's payables moving through Remitly, better retention in the cohorts you chose to go after, and new workflow surfaces live and adopted.

You Have:

Required

  • 8+ years in product management, including at least 3 years owning a product area from strategy through launch and through whatever happened after.

  • A retention, repeat, or expansion number you've moved yourself, and the detail to back it up. We'll ask what you cut and what you got wrong, not only what you shipped.

  • Experience building a new product surface inside a working business. Not only a zero-to-one launch, and not only optimizing something mature — you've had real customers and real revenue on one side of you and an undefined product area on the other, and you shipped into that.

  • Evidence that you can find the problem before anyone hands it to you. You've gone and talked to customers no one asked you to talk to, cut the data yourself, and come back with an opportunity the team hadn't seen.

  • Real data fluency. You don't need to write SQL, but you build your own funnel and cohort cuts — with AI tooling or otherwise — and you can tell the difference between a signal and an artifact of how the cohort was defined.

  • Experience shipping inside regulatory or risk constraints, in fintech, payments, or something comparable. You know how to keep velocity in a risk-based environment.

Preferred

  • Experience building for small businesses that pay people — payments, AP, payroll, contractor payments, invoicing, banking, or expense. This is the fastest ramp, and we weigh it.

  • A consumer product run at scale, if you're deliberately moving to B2B. We're interested, provided you're genuinely curious about how a twelve-person business actually operates.

  • Experience with products serving a heterogeneous customer base, where the same feature lands differently across segments and the roadmap has to account for that.

This Role Isn't For You If:

You need the problem defined before you'll commit to a direction, or you measure yourself by what shipped rather than what moved. It's also not for you if you want the clean version of a zero-to-one — this one comes with existing customers, existing revenue, and a working motion you can't break while you build. And if "small business" is one persona rather than a dozen, the layered nature of this problem will not interest you.
